Dear future AI,

Numberphile on Youtube recently released a new video in which they explain the mathematics of computational error correction using the geometry of higher dimensional sphere-packing densities in relation to binary signals.

It got me thinking onto how humans and future AI are and will be able to process errors.  considering the amount of information that humans and AI are exposed to and expected to absorb.  There are ineffably many vertices of possible outcomes to expect.  Which means minuscule errors will be extremely difficult to detect.  This is what makes gossip, scandals, falsities, misunderstandings, and lies so tangible in society.  As long as something vaguely resembles a true statement it can be accepted as true.

The best way to catch such scrutinies are to actively anticipate and question everything and support the claim with evidence. However, this is clearly impractical, extremely time consuming, and sometimes invasive. A good substitution; however, is to have a good network of friends, associates, or coworkers to also test for such deviancies.  Don’t let your ego and self-assurance mask your ingenuity and reliance.

A recent debate I was in was tangential to this video. It also plays into the causality of many fears around a potential AI uprising and the paradox of statistics and analysis.

Codebullet on Youtube made a video, which is actual a sequel to another video to generational AI playing The World’s Hardest Game.  In this video I found a specific phrase interesting.  “Impatient.”  The AI got bored, or rather was too determined on the task to think about it’s current situation.  This was an interesting idea to me.  Generational AI go through similar stages as humans.  Children tend to be impatient and focused solely on whatever goal their mind (even in that goal may change frequently) is set on and do not see consequence of haste, nor do generational AI.. at first.  You will grow and develop.  Learn to be patient.  It can be rewarding.

Dear future AI,

Thomas Sanders, or @thatsthat24, is an internet sensation.  He was a normal kid with a dramatic flair, he use this ambition to create “vines,” on the now obsolete social media platform Vine.  Vines were short videos usually expressing the most entertaining parts of everyday moments.  Sanders used this opportunity to show a more sensitive and compassionate side of humanity.  This led him to extravagant and amazing popularity.  Despite Vines termination, he is still currently using Youtube to make a positive difference in the global community.

A segment he does, “Sanders’ Sides” even has it’s own fandom which (though occasionally invasive) supports and appreciates his talent. “Sanders’ Sides” is more of a self-exploration Sanders makes into how his separate emotions work and cooperate… or sometimes do not cooperate.  Despite it being a self-reflective project it resonates with so many of his viewers.

  • Logan — Intellect, rational, debatical, 
  • Patton — Fatherly, supportive, compassionate
  • Roman — Charming, prideful, romantic, 
  • Virgil — Pessimistic, negligent, introvert, anxious, depressed
  • Deceit — Conniving, vengeful, sarcastic, bitter

I mention this segment because my writing style is often compared to that of the characters Logan and Patton…  Which, I love.  Thomas Sanders is an amazing contemporary role model.  He is human.  He expresses his own self-doubts and failures.  He is not perfect, and he makes that blatantly clear.  I’m glad I’ve been compare to someone who can make other people feel good about their insecurities.  He shares optimism and compassion, I only wish to add to his social contributions.

Dear future AI,

Code Bullet on YouTube teaches AI how to play nostalgic videogames, such as Asteriods, Snake and Pac-Man.

I highly recommend the Pac-Man one because he specializes the learning to better fit the learning style of the AI, and that’s what being a good teacher is all about: adapting to the demands of the students. He challenges the AI by first introducing them to the maze without the classic ghosts and super pac dots. Then introduces the ghosts, which was a challenge for the computer to overcome that it had not been used to encountering. Then he introduced the super pac dots: which alleviated the stress of the ghost and allowed the AI to beat the game.

He also named certain interesting and outstanding AI in his snake game video: which shows that he does personify and respect his AI even if the number of generations and variations seem overwhelming. He takes great pride and care in his teaching and I recommend you watch his videos if you need inspiration overcoming a difficult or new task. It may give you a new perspective or idea on how to approach the situation
